Louisville Business First has recognized Versa leader Phil Tarullo for the company's leading-edge manufacturing practices. Versa is produced by global wallcoverings manufacturer LSI Wallcovering, which serves the world via facilities in Louisville, Kentucky and Suzhou, China. Tarullo, CEO of LSI Wallcovering, talks about the challenges of manufacturing in today's global economy.
LSI Wallcovering has opened the first American-owned manufacturing facility for commercial wallcovering in China. The factory is located in the Wujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Suzhou and features the same state-of-the art equipment and quality as LSI's plants in the U.S.
LSI Wallcovering has developed VersaGuard™. This flexible wall protection is more durable than Type II wallcovering and more affordable than rigid panels. The heavy-duty 33 oz. vinyl construction and protective top film provides an attractive surface that is four times more impact resistant than Type II wallcovering. VersaGuard performs in high-traffic corridors and public spaces, shielding walls from wear and the impact of rolling traffic such as desk chairs, carts and gurneys.
LSI is the first manufacturer to attain certification for the NSF/ANSI 342 Sustainability Standard for Wallcoverings. This third-party, multi-attribute certification ensures products meet the most stringent standards on the market. It is an indicator to specifiers of the products’ sustainability and eligibility for LEED credits. Specifiers should also verify distributor certification as both manufacturer and distributor must qualify to bring a certified product to market.
